Watching a Football Game with Mark
One day, Mark and I found ourselves home alone with the football game coming on. I was doing something, I can't remember what.
I hear Mark calling me in to watch the game.
I stop what I'm doing, turn around slowly and ask him to repeat what he just said. He repeats it.
Yep, there was nothing wrong with my hearing. He wants me to sit down next to him, on the sofa, and watch the game.
He says it'll be fun.
I gave a little smile and asked if he might like to call one of the kids, or a friend (a stranger) any one else who might want to watch this game.
"Nope" he said, "I want you".
At any other time, 'I want you' was the phrase that went straight to my heart and turned my brain to jello.
That time was not one of those times. I did not want to watch football. But I thought, what the heck. He wants to watch the game with me. I could do that.
We had a nice time. I don't remember who was playing but I do remember first quarter went by quickly and I was enjoying the experience much more than I thought I would.
He said he was going to get up and make us something to snack on.
Now your talkin'.
I volunteered my expertise in this area and was told "no, you just sit here and tell me what happens, I'll be right back".
Wasn't this a turn of events! I'm on the couch watching the game and he is in the kitchen whipping up a snack.
What a guy.
Well, now I felt I needed to pay real close attention to what was happening so I could give a detailed replay of events when he came back with the goods. He always made the best snacks. (triple the calories, but yummy)
So I listened real close to everything that announcer said.
Mark asks, "what's been happening" as he comes walking into the living room with a platter of something that smelled heavenly.
I said, "You are not going to believe this. It seems there are a bunch of these football players that bowl professionally in the off season."
He looked right at me, sort of stared me down, and said rather sternly, "They do not".
I said, "They do! The announcer just said - that guy was a Pro-Bowler and the guy on the other team was a Pro-Bowler. And they were Pro-Bowlers last year too!"
Mark went right over to the phone and made a call. I hear him say, "You're never going to guess what your mother just said".

Haha. He definitely called me after that.
Hahaha... one of my favorites.
When I got that call from Dad he was laughing so hard that I could not understand what he was saying! When he finally got the story out I could not stop laughing so hard I could not tell anyone. Now when I tell that story everyone thinks I am making it up.
